How Did We do it Before the Web?
Think about it. Prior to the days of comic book websites, finding out about, buying selling comic books was of an issue. Certainly, you probably knew a few people like yourself who were interested in them. But it was such a particular type of hobby that finding many people with your passion was difficult to do. You generally had to go via dealers that specialized to sell and trade them or travel loong distances to conventions even to find out the most basic of interesting stuff about your favorites.
The Age of the Comic Book Websites Arrives!
The age of the world-wide-web has brought a whole new world of opportunity to research, enjoy, buy, trade or sell comics. purchasing.
Here are some ideas:
EBay is clearly the mac daddy site to find stuff, any stuff and comic books are no exception. There are literally thousands of avid collectors from all over the world coming together every day there.
Heritage Auctions is also a good site to check out.
Comic Link is another. It is a really good site becuase it was developed by people who have a really passionate interest in comic books and there is a ton of great informaion available there.
On a final note here, though, do be careful when looking to buy or sell anything on the net. While the truth is most people are pretty honest, it is easy for people to make up a persona and if you aren’t careful you may be paying for somehting you don’t end up getting. Do some due diligence when you are looking around for books you are interested in. Do your best to find out about the person selling them. Do they have longevity on the site? Good ratings and feedback people who have bought from them before?
That all said, happy surfing!
