The miracle that is the MET
When Frank Sinatra song goes, "if you make it there, you can always", perhaps because New York is perceived by many in the world to the city where dreams come true. It's where you "to be part of them" to go on, and the city that never sleeps is synonymous with unbridled success, art, culture, music and even its own food culture. A mecca for the cosmopolitan in all of us, New York is one of the world's most popular Cities no accident.
New York is not only home to the first financial institutions in the U.S. District, Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange, but is also the status as one of the planet culturally diverse locations. An epicenter for music, art and literature, love, it's no wonder that New York even if one of the Worlds' most famous and largest art galleries are.
Pleasant along the eastern edge of the famous Central Park in the so-called Museum Mile NYC sets from the MET or the Metropolitan Museum of Art is located. Live more than two million works of art from all over the world, the Met also has curatorial wings nineteen securing some the worlds' most sought after works of art sought. Spread out over a quarter of a mile and two million square feet of the Met among prominent scientists, conservators and Curators organized.
Visitors will enjoy the Museum's extensive collection of artwork by members of the ancient world to popular works from ancient Egypt and collections of sculptures and paintings by leading artists in Europe. The Met also houses an impressive collection of modern art and American art alongside songs the Byzantine, African, Islamic, Oceanic, and Asian artistic legacies.
A wide range of musical instruments, Weapons, armor and costumes can also be seen at the Met, where significant interiors of the first century in Rome to contemporary American motives.
Some of the Met's must-see collections include American Decorative Arts Department, the 12,000 pieces by famous artists such as Louis Comfort Tiffany, Paul Revere and done Displays Tiffany & Co. The American painting and sculpture section includes works by the likes of John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, Thomas Eakins and James McNeill Whistler, while the Asian works department houses pieces from the Ming Dynasty and Chinese calligraphy by Tibetan and Nepalese.
More Popular sections include the Egyptian art collection and the Greek and Roman art collection, European art sections also collects visitor attention for its remarkable collections of the great masters. With more than 37 paintings by Monet, 18 Rembrandts and 21 oil paintings by Cézanne, the Met is also home to the largest Vermeer collection in the world. Van Gogh's self portraits and Botticelli Last Communion of St. Jerome's are not to miss even while sculptures Artists such as Bernini, Rodin, Voltaire and Houdon also be shown.
The Robert Lehman Collection, and the Costume Institute are also worth seeing as well as the well-stocked Libraries. The Met's roof garden is home to many collections, depending on the season, where the guests concentrate on the work of a single artist in a spectacular to exhibitions, the visitors from near and far.
