Pop Culture Will Embrace 'Watchmen'?
Something old, something new. Something Borrowed, Something Blue.
As sporadic comic book fan growing up in the 1980s, one would think the original 12-issue graphic novel "Watchmen" in the stack of comic books I would be collected in the last two and a half decades, but it would be wrong. I did not see Watchmen until several years after he published. Even then, once I was informed that only one of the so-called "Super Heroes" in the novel actually super powers I read completely lost interest. Flash to 2007, when the news came that a 'Watchmen' film was in production. My interest was rekindled. A 'Watchmen' Film? Why should a "Watchmen" movie "The Justice League of America, '' Avengers', or even the brave" Teen Titans " I asked myself? The Fanboy pages on caught fire. It was like someone finally is a film for them. Not only because it is the popular thing to do.
I decided to borrow the Graphic Novel by a friend to investigate what was the fuss. I was blown away. Writer Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons artists are brilliant. They exceed the medium. This is not merely a comic or a comic, this is an extraordinary piece of literature. Now I was just like the fans who waited decades to see the movie excited. How could this long wait? Perhaps my ignorance is saving me a kind of unnecessary frustration. Images of the figures were published online. It was chunk cheese such as feeding hungry mice. The fanboys crazy. Then came complaints. Why the actors are so young? They should be retired superheroes, right? Rorschach Why so short? Dan Three mountain should have a pot belly, as he is not in the graphic novel. Rumors followed. The script changed the original ending and not a 'Tales of the Black Freighter "story in history are.
